383,282 Hearing Instruments Distributed Worldwide
Hundreds of millions of people worldwide have moderate to profound hearing loss in both ears.
People with untreated hearing loss can suffer from depression, isolation and withdrawal.
Children with hearing loss have difficulty learning and gaining the self-esteem to succeed in school and life.
Elijah, a young boy who arrived in the United States in February of 2006, received a hearing instrument from the Starkey Hearing Foundation this July in New York City at the Major League Baseball All-Star Mission. “I am so happy when he puts his hearing instrument on and his face lights up each morning before he goes to school,” his mother Karen told us. Prior to his U.S. arrival, he had no amplification, no language, and had never attended school. The joyful mom said, “He has certainly come a long way, and I know with his new Starkey hearing instrument he will only go further.”
“Eli has made great strides since receiving the gift of hearing thanks to the Starkey Hearing Foundation.” – Karen Solomon
